Hello everyone. I hope we are all ready for the holiday season.

Sorry my post have been almost 2 months apart. Been busy getting ready for baby. My wonderful husband has put up a wall and my once 1 bedroom home is now a 3 bedroom home! Baby Robert has a place to call his own. I'll have pictures up once I get the room looking all cute. For now, you'll have to deal with a picture of my and my bump. At the last doc appt He said that Baby could be sooner then Feb 12th. But after yesterday's appt - we are back on for Feb. or Late Jan. There is poll going at work, most of my co-works think late Jan. We'll See!

We are SO excited about our SON! Robert Lynn Davis the 3rd... and no, you may not call him Rob or Robbie. We have not come up with a 'short' name to call him. I like Robert. I think its a nice Strong name. And since I don't really call my husband Robert at home, I don't see an issue just yet. Maybe 003. Or R3. LOL... I use to joke with my friends that after I got married I became R2D2! Anyways.... Pictures of my handsome son below.

we are very excited to be having a little boy in Feb. His name will be Robert Lynn Davis 3rd...I'm not to sure what we will call him, but we have time for that. he moves ALL the time Like a little jumping bean. Only 4 more months till we get to meet him.

Cast Iron Love affair

I have always wanted a Cast Iron Skillet and Dutch oven, and thanks to my younger sister and mom I got that for my Bday. Since then (almost a month later) I have become OBSESSED with them. I've made fried okra (wet batter and dry) Dad's Chili, Chicken noddle soup, Beef barley soup, Lots of cornbread, fried potatoes and I even skillet cooked pork with some veggies. My favorite website for cast iron recipes is http://www.dutchovendude.com/ Martha Stewart also has some good stuff. My food has never tasted better... and now my sis has a cast iron skillet! lol.

*baby Davis is coming along just fine. Im 5 months along and cant wait to find out the gender. Oct 8th!!!! I'll let everyone know. (Fingers crossed for boy)

It must be BABY TIME... I found a lot of Baby Frogs, Baby Lizards and even a Baby Turtle in the garden. I must say, the baby turtle was the cutest.

I'm also happy to say the worm is gone from the Tomato plant and we now have 5 little tomatoes starting to grow. I'll have pictures when they get bigger.

I opened the back door to walk Thu the garden, just like every other day. As soon as I opened the door I saw Mr. Turtle sitting on the bottom rail of the deck. At first I thought he was just chilling, but then I noticed that He didn't try to hide in his shell when he saw me and that he was not moving... So I lend in for a closer look. Mr. Turtle was stuck under the branch of a climbing vine. I lifted the vine up and Mr. Turtle started to move away. But not a safe direction. He was moving to the ledge. Then, after looking around for a min, He JUMPED. Landed shell down on a stepping stone, quickly turned him self right side up and sat stunned for a sec. Then walked a way. I was so sure that he was not going to make it after that jump. But he did...
Here are some pictures Pre jump. I also have a video of the jump, but I need to make it a little smaller before I can post it. And to do that I need the husband. lol

Peppers and Tomatoes oh my!

Hello again.
I know its been some time since my last post. But as most of you know, I'm pregnant and off work. While it seems like a perfect time for gardening and blogging, I've been relaxing and enjoying the fact that I don't have to do anything. I know this type of freedom will not happen again for a long time. so I'm soaking it up. :)

As for the garden, Somethings made it and something did not. Lets start with what did not make it:
My Squash. Sadly. It flowered like crazy but only gave me 1 squash. Maybe the lack of bee's. It kind-a looks like it got sick. I'm not to sure.
Broccoli. I have a picture of what my broccoli is doing. there are some sprouts but most of the leaves have been eaten off and the sprouts have little black bugs in them. gross.
Park Whopper Tomatoes. the vine is growing tall and strong. it makes flowers but not tomatoes. We found out worms will eat the vine and flowers. Sure enough we found 3 worms on it. here's hoping it produces.

Made it:
Roma Grape Tomatoes. we've eaten a lot of these guys. very yummy.
Heirloom Tomatoes. we've had 3 off this plant. hopefully the worm issue will help him out too.
Sweet Bell peppers -green/red. This did great! we have a lot of green peppers growing. Did you know that green peppers left on the vine will turn red? I did not.
All the herbs are doing great. and Thanks to a friend at work we've added Spanish oregano too the mix. What a great smell this has!

~Beach Trip~

~Beach Trip~

Ah the beach. How I love the sand in my toes and the sound of the waves. What a beautiful place. I mean any beach. Not just the one I was at. All beaches have there perks. Sand and Water! The only thing not so great about this beach was the Jellyfish. Yes, jellyfish. I had never been stung by one and I don't ever want to be stung again. One hit my chest and rolled down my front, leaving 3 red sting spots. The pain. It lasted maybe an hour. And right after that pain was going away, a jellyfish wrapped itself around my leg. This left a pretty good sized sting. This time the pain lasted about 2 to 3 hours... I didn't have a watch or clock, so I'm not really sure about times... But it felt like 3 hours...I was really lucky that I only got stung by 2, because they were everywhere! and really really big ones too. Everywhere you looked - there they were.
So enough about the bad stuff.... On to the good. First Food. I love food. good food at that. We ate some wonderful sushi - salmon and Catfish... I know what your thinking. Catfish? but yes, grilled catfish stuffed with a cornbread mix and crawfish. I'm not normally one for crawfish, but I like to try new things. This was a good try. Very fresh and very yummmy. Other good things were the people. Locals I mean. Every local store (by this I mean small shops like, clothing stores and art gallery's) we went into was very lovely and they were very nice and talkative. We made a lot of "new friends" :) We stopped in a garden store on the way out of town and bought two Palms and two hibiscus plants. They look so good in our garden. Of course the View was nice and the weather could not have been better. No rain and a nice 90 they whole time.

WELCOME BACK!

I'm so sorry that it takes me some time to update here. Things in the garden have been GREAT! Our potatoes are doing very well, along with all the herbs we have planted. Some flowers have bloomed but most are just starting to bud. With all this rain, it hurt a lot of our early bloomers. As you saw from the last post, the Roses were amazing! The rain destroyed most of them. so sad. They only lasted a week or so. I have 2 Tomatoes growing and cant wait for more. Here I have pictures of 2 veggies I really proud of.

The Roses have bloomed! and its seemed to have happened over night. They look amazing and smell wonderful. Its my favorite thing in the garden. I love cutting them and bringing roses into the house. I have them all over. Sadly, the rain came last night and knocked a lot of petals off. But no worries, they will grow back...All summer long! I just love it.

I started a Garden Journal about 2 months ago. I've listed everything growing, when it got planted, and looked up information on everything. I really think this is going to help me have a better understanding of my plants. Not much has happened with the plants yet. Everything is still making a home in the ground. By mid summer We're going to have all sorts of good things to eat. Provided that I can make them grow.

Vacation 08

Hello to everyone who Reads this... If you didn't know, my husband and I took our yearly trip to Florida. We themed parked again...I can't get enough Roller coasters and simulators. We had a great time all week. Even managed to be inside when it rained. Which it did everyday. The only bad thing about the trip was on the way home. See, Delta airlines has a new rule. You must be 45 Min's early, from your boarding time. If you are not the computer will lock you out and not even a Manager can get back in. Well, we did not know this. We were 40 Min's early. We were not allowed to check in. After a lot 'talk' about this, we ended up buying 2 more plane tickets and a hotel room. Our flight left at 5:30 the next morning... Needless to say, Delta will never get any of my money again. But other then that, we had a great time. We ate ALOT of food and rode everything at least twice. Epcot was having there Food and Wine Fest and we took part in that everyday! Japan is our Fav! Sake and Sushi. We also ate at Wolfgang Pucks, that was very good also. We took home some hand carved Wine stoppers - shaped like a zebra, giraffe, and rhino - two floppy hats and a great cast iron Teapot from Japan. It sits on our wood burning stove. We can't wait to use it. My legs hurt for 2 days after. I haven't walked that much since I was waiting tables. LOL. any who...I have some pictures I'd like to share...

Rainy Birthday

Yesterday was my 25th Birthday and I had planned a nice garden party. I spent all day placing candles and potted flowers around the garden. My step dad made me some very nice benches and my Mom made some awesome pillows for them. Everything looked great and was ready for the party. Then at 6:50 ( partying starting at 7:30 ) It came a down pour! Major river running thur the back yard, soaked the candles. Luckily I was able to get the pillows inside before they got wet. It only rained for 15 mins but it was enough rain to keep us off the benches and bar stools. I moved some candles inside and placed the pillows on the couch and the floor. The one on the floor the cat took over and didn't leave it till around noon today. We did spend sometime outside. Standing. But I had a great time. Drank a little too much. but who cares! Its my birthday!
I have no pictures, b.c well... I got mad that things didn't go my way and I had to move inside and somehow I focused more on wine then pictures.

Eventful Day

It seems I always find New things in my Garden when I moving/cutting plants. Today we found a whole Mess of Garlic Chives. I knew I had Chives, but I just thought they were Chives. and I didn't realize how much I had. After we cut back an evergreen we found them.(pictures 1&2) Just a few had flowered, and I remembered reading that chives have purplish flowers not white. So I looked it up, and found that there called Garlic Chives. I also learned that you can eat the flowers and the bulb that's in the ground, along with the stems. I love a plant that you can eat all of!

Below is where I planted my Bouquet Garden seeds. I got the seeds as a free gift from the National home gardening club. The Mixture has the Following: Calendula, Sunflower, comos, Lewis Flax, Baby Snapdragon, Cornflower, Lupine, Scented Stock, Clarkia, African Dasiy, Phlox, Chinese Forget-Me-Not, Baby's Breath, Zinnia, Dephinium, Coreopsis, and Black eyed susan. I'm pretty excited about having a whole section just for cut flowers. I love to bring them inside, and share with others. I'm always taking Roses to work. I also planted some Red Poppy seeds just off the side of this picture. I can't wait!!

What a pretty day today was. We took full advantage of it. Spent all day playing around outside. We cleaned out all the weeds from the herb garden, then sprayed the rest of the weeds around the path ways. We planted the onion that was growing in our makeshift petree dish. we'll see how it grows. We also took down the bird cage and are hoping to rebuild it somewhere more pleasing to the eyes.
The mosquito's are still bad in this area. But I have something that will soon fix that... About 4 or 5 months ago, we noticed frogs were signing love songs at our pond. Then we noticed a TON of tadpoles. well today we saw a little less then a ton of baby frogs. (since the fish ate alot of the tadpoles) They are tiny things. hop'n all over the place. They'll start eating the mosquito's soon I hope. I got a picture of one. He was moving fast so its kinda blurry. I think you can get the point as to how small they are. Other then that, we just enjoyed the outside and grilled turkey dogs for lunch. what a Great day.

I found about 4 patches of Garlic around the garden. I can't wait to harvest in June.The grape vine is doing well. I think its about time to clip the leaves and start training it.

Ah, the Tomato! I'm happy to see one already growing. There are 4-5 more flowers that just died off and should produce fruit soon.

There are over 250 recognised classifications of the Clematis. All of which contain oils and compounds that are extremely toxic. Causing internal bleeding of the digestive tract, if the amount is large enough. Native Americans used very small amounts to cure migraines and nervous disorders.

...seems that digesting something toxic would make the nervous disorder worse...but that's just me.

Did you know:

Hydrangeas change colors depending on the amount of aluminum that's in the soil. They change from Pink to Blue with more aluminum.
I read that Hydrangea's can turn deep red. Hot climates, Like the South, prevent this from happening in my garden.

As you all know, I deal with all types of People on a daily bases. Have been for many years. I like it. Keeps me on my toes. But somehow someway, the weird ones find me. I dont know how it happens it just does. Always telling me things that one should NEVER share with a stranger.
So yestorday a man walks into the store to drop off his item and I ask the same question I ask everyone... How's your day? This opens me up for a great conversation, that I will now share with you....I feel If I had to hear it, then many many others should have to, too.

How's your day?
Man: "Well I cant get a date. Seems there is no one that wants to date me."
Sure there is...you'll find someone.
Man: "No. Because woman these days want two things. A man that can be active outside and someone to have sex with."
-silence-
"since I have a prostatice leg and Dont want to have sex, noone wants to date me. Im just looking for a compainion"
I can understand that. Don't worry sir, you'll find someone.
Man: "My wife ,who died 5 years ago, didn't care that we didn't have sex. Why is that all woman want?"
I'm sorry to hear about your wife, but trust me you'll find someone.
Man: "Do you know what the bible says about having sex?"
(thinking I would nail this one) Yes its for procreation not recreation.
Man: (slams hand on counter top) "NO! its just for fun and we should not do it. If god wanted you to have a child then he will give you one if you have sex or not."
-silence and shock-
Man: "I was died on a table for 8 hours and I talked to god about this. And that's what he told me. My wife, whom brought me back to life, was ok with is. I go round and round with my Cathlic Priest about this. But I know more then he does, because I've talked to god and He has only listened to him."
-still shocked and saying nothing. just a friendly smile-
Man: "And I knew I should come in here today, because god told me that I should be telling this to you."

so there you have it. He felt he should share this with me and I felt I should share it with you.

Thanks for all your help with the Lavender. I found online that I can cook with it. Mainly for jelly and sweet things and to use lavender instead of rosemary when cooking chicken.

Then there the medical uses..the oil will help headaches and bug bites. We all know it smells good and is great for the bath or potpourri to calm nerves. I even found how to make soap!

Here's another one for you... Can anyone tell from the top of this what it is? It had a bulb bottom. kind of looked like garlic...

Most people can't stand telemarketers. Let alone think of BEING a telemarketer.
I'm actual pretty good at it and like doing it.
At this time in my life, I'm not selling anything over the phone, I'm simply calling to remind people to do something. Which cost them money. So most of my calls are short and sweet. (See these people know why I'm calling and what to give us money.) Rarely do I get someone that's rude or unhappy with us.
Since the service I offer deals a lot with older people, I find out that the spouse is no longer living. This brings me to one of my last phone calls of the day.

after 30 to 35 straight phone calls and lunch time creeping up, I was ready to speed past my calls and get back to reading my book.

I dial. It rings. rings. rings again, then...Hello?
after stating who I was and why I was calling The voice said...
"Thanks for calling,but I wouldn't be needing that this year. My husband pasted away 10 months ago. And I'm stuck here between a river and a mountain. I'm 89 and don't drive anymore."
I say I'm very sorry to hear about your husband and thank her for her time.
She said..."I don't get may calls. Maybe once a week or so. I'm sorry.I just miss talking to someone."
After telling her I'd talk to with her all day if she wanted to, She asked my name and where I was from.

We talked for 20 Min's about Her kids and grand kids, my family, work and the weather. It was nice. comfortable not forced.

I hope it blighted her day, It did mine.

First off is my Potato. It's looking really good. I'm very excited about this one.
Next is my Mint. I have 3 different types growing out there. This one is spearmint.

Last, but not lest. My grape's. I just planted them this year, So I'm not expecting any grapes till next season.

Movie Review Time.

Sweeney Todd - All in All it was a good movie. I'm sure the play was better (they always are) But Tim Burton did a great job bringing it to the big screen. A musical that keeps on killing. A+

No Country for Old men - This movie started out pretty good. It was adventurous and thrilling. Then, with 20 minutes left It dropped off the side of the earth. Did the writers go on strike? What happened? Nothing. It just ended. Badly. Why did this win so many awards? I just don't get it.C-

3:10 to Yuma - Now here's a Western anyone will love. It had all the right stuff. It kept me locked in with Thrills and Chills. It was even heartfelt. A++

There are 2 more movies waiting for me at home. So after I watch 'em I'll tell you what I think.

Great Pork Recipe Coming your Way!

Put your pork chops in a skillet with enough oil to cover the bottom of Pan, but not to cover the pork. add some Onions and Red peppers.
Cover. Let cook till browned.

Add in some teriyaki sauce and Brown Sugar.
Cover. Let cook for 10 mins.

Add in cubed Pineapples - not the juice.
Cover.Let cook another 10 mins.

With Rice, bread and a salad... This is great!

From what I read online. I think is Lavender.
